Visitors of the Solar Power UK in Birmingham and Nextgen’s Microgen in Stoneleigh Park will have the opportunity to discover how to benefit most of self-generated solar energy with Nedap’s PowerRouter. With its unique technology the PowerRouter controls whether to use the self-generated solar energy instantly, store it in batteries or feed it back to the grid. Nedap is presenting the new feature Energy Management, including Load Management and Consumption Monitoring, both key elements in the PowerRouter presentation.
With Load Management and intelligent Consumption Monitoring the PowerRouter is ready for the future.
The PowerRouter including energy management will be introduced on the exhibitions this October. With Load Management and intelligent Consumption Monitoring the PowerRouter is ready for the future. Start with the PowerRouter Solar Inverter, monitor your energy consumption through myPowerRouter.com and expand with the PowerRouter Battery Manager when the time is right. This connect & grow capability makes the PowerRouter unique in its kind and makes it possible to start small and add storage of solar energy at a later time.
Load management – switch on additional loads
By means of applying an external relay it is now possible to manage and switch on additional selected loads (fig. 1) when there is a surplus of solar energy. For example, a water heater or boiler can be prepared and switched on. In this way the use of self-generated energy can be further maximized. This can be very advantageous, especially when the feed-in tariff is lower than the electricity tariff. By intelligent use of the surplus energy electricity costs can be further decreased.
This feature will be available for the PowerRouter Solar Inverter as well as the PowerRouter Solar Battery.

Intelligent consumption monitoring with myPowerRouter.com
With the PowerRouter the generated energy with the solar installation can be easily monitored. To also monitor the total energy consumption besides the production data the PowerRouter installation can be equipped with a sensor, this sensor comes standard with a PowerRouter Solar Battery. This extended Consumption Monitoring feature will also become available for a PowerRouter Solar Inverter system with the addition of the sensor (optional) to the solar installation.
This easy-to-install, clip-on sensor will measure the actual grid current. After installation the web portal myPowerRouter.com will automatically detect the sensor and adjust the monitoring widgets. Using the web portal myPowerRouter.com the system owner has direct insight in the energy production, system status and total energy consumption (fig. 2).
