Agri

Because we want to give the animals back a bit of freedom

In traditional sow farming, sows used to spend almost all their lives lying and enclosed in gestation stalls. Nedap Agri changed all this with Velos ESF (Electronic Sow Feeding). The introduction of special feeding stations means that the sows can walk around freely and can live in groups, as they do in the wild.

Agri has developed other concepts for stall management, like Velos ESF, which make the lives of pigs, cows, sheep and goats more pleasant. And this also benefits people. Firstly, of course, the farmer. He has a system that saves him a lot of work, and is much more efficient in its feed distribution and energy consumption. As a result, the costs are lower, while he gets more out of it.

The human race as a whole also benefits from a sustainable enterprise method. Increasing prosperity and population growth is leading to an increased demand for meat and dairy products. Nedap’s Agri Systems make it possible to meet this demand, while improving the welfare of the animals at the same time.

RFID technology allows animals to live in groups and be individually recognised

Individual care thanks to RFID technology

Nedap Agri started developing cattle feeding stations in 1977. This was followed later by management applications for cows, sows, meat-type pigs, sheep and goats. The deployment of RFID technology allows animals to live in groups and be individually recognised, monitored and cared for. This makes it possible, for example, to automatically give each animal exactly the right quantity and type of feed.

Agri is currently developing, producing and selling automation products for cattle farming around the world. Automating processes such as feeding, milking, selection, pregnancy and heat detection makes it possible to use the means of production more effectively. Agri simplifies individual care at large-scale businesses, as a result of which the cattle farmer has a better insight into what exactly is happening in his business. This means he can direct the business more quickly and efficiently, achieving better results.

A relatively new development of Agri is Live!D. Thanks to a unique RFID label in the form of an ear tag, the animals can be quickly and easily identified. This technique is used primarily for the transport of sheep and goats. Sheep and goats are bought and sold a great deal, primarily in countries such as Ireland, England and Australia. In the context of the possible outbreak of disease, the origin of these animals must be traceable at all times. Apart from identification, Live!D also provides important information about health, treatments and vaccinations. The Live!D ear tags are also very suitable for management purposes; an exceptional characteristic for ear tags.

Agri is working all the time on new techniques and functionalities to bring working conditions and animal welfare increasingly in line with one another. Agri's technology is used around the world. Since 2009, Agri has also had offices in Shanghai.
