Clean, clear drinking water is the most normal thing in the world for us in the West. It costs almost nothing, and we open the tap, brush our teeth, have a shower, wash the car and water the garden without thinking about it. It is almost unimaginable, but at the same time more than 1 billion people in the world have no access whatsoever to clean drinking water.
Clean drinking water saves lives
Half of the population of developing countries in Asia, Africa and South America is suffering from a water-related disease. That is the most important reason why the average life expectancy in these countries is only 40 years. In 80% of cases, childhood mortality is the result of drinking contaminated water. If we can help all those people to have clean drinking water, we will save millions of lives per year. Based on this thought, Nedap Light Controls developed the Naiade.
An unprecedented luxury
The Naiade is a standalone water purification machine which operates on solar energy. It filters contaminated water and purifies it of all bacteria and viruses. The Naiade offers unprecedented luxury, a new, improved way of life in areas in which no clean drinking water is available. They are used in water purification systems from New York to Paris and from Melbourne to Shanghai, and make an important contribution to the supply of water to billions of people on earth.
No life without water
Everybody needs approximately 2 litres of water per day to stay healthy. You don’t get this only from drinking, there is also water in food. A person can go for approximately a month without food, but no more than a couple of days without water.
