What are you going to do?
As a Hardware Engineer in the SmartTag team, you will work on the development, refinement and maintenance of our intelligent, low-power wireless sensors. These sensors, known as SmartTags, meticulously collect behavioural data from cows and form an essential part of our innovative automation solutions for the livestock industry. Quality and reliability are paramount.
You will work on both new developments and the optimisation and maintenance of existing products. In addition, part of your work will consist of a wide variety of tasks. You will be a key support for our production department and the Test & Measurement group. In this role, you will assist with production issues and analyse test yield. You will draw up test plans on the basis of which our own test and measurement equipment is developed. In your role, you will be responsible for the entire Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and its administration, and you will be involved in identifying and testing alternative components to ensure product continuity.
You will become part of our R&D department, where we embrace an agile mindset. We adopt a flexible approach to respond effectively to relevant developments. Your responsibilities
You translate business requirements into technical requirements, specifications and test criteria.
You work on the development, optimisation and maintenance of hardware solutions for our SmartTags in accordance with a product development process.
You make informed component choices, investigate alternatives and carry out validation tests in collaboration with suppliers.
You analyse test results and provide support for technical issues in production.
You monitor the quality of both development processes and products, including through reviews and validation tests.
You ensure that product information and technical documentation are correctly recorded within the PLM system.
You provide support for compliance and qualification tests to ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and quality requirements.
Your team
As a Hardware Engineer, you will be part of the SmartTag team within Livestock. This is a multidisciplinary team comprising various disciplines, working together to develop, test, manufacture and maintain the SmartTag from start to finish. Outside the SmartTag team, you will be part of the Hardware Engineers discipline group. As well as working closely together on technical matters, we value a friendly, informal atmosphere – a chat over a cup of coffee is always on the cards.

The salary range for this role is between € 4.000 and € 5.000 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours) and depends on relevant knowledge and experience. Required skills
As a Hardware Engineer, you have a keen eye for detail and take a structured approach to the development, refinement and maintenance of existing products. You proactively take ownership of your work and ensure that quality and reliability are guaranteed. At the same time, you are a team player: you coordinate, share knowledge and involve colleagues in your decision-making. You communicate easily with colleagues both within and outside the team and liaise independently with suppliers in collaboration with the supply chain team when necessary.

- Work experience and education: You have at least 3 years’ experience as a Hardware Engineer and a completed higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) degree in Electrical Engineering. You possess strong analytical skills with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Experience with the hardware development cycle: You have experience in designing and further developing electronic circuits, reading and drawing up schematics, laying out PCBs and testing products.
- Language skills: You are fluent in Dutch and English.
- (Preferred) RF technology and analogue circuits: An affinity with and knowledge of RF technology and analogue circuits is an advantage. Knowledge of ultra-low power, EMC and ESD.
- (Preferred) Altium: Experience with Altium for schematics and PCB layout is an advantage.
- (Preferred) Embedded software: An affinity for embedded software is an advantage
