Nedap introduces AI update that helps retailers prioritize high-impact crime incidents
Nedap (AMS:NEDAP), the global leader in item-level visibility, introduces AI Smart Mode: a major update to Nedap’s loss prevention solution that helps retailers focus on the incidents that matter most. By helping teams focus on fewer, more meaningful events, Nedap enables faster investigations, reduced investigation time, and more effective allocation of resources across stores.
Retailers are gaining greater visibility into in-store activity, but many still struggle to identify which loss prevention events require action. Loss prevention teams are now dealing with a growing volume of incidents, receiving more signals, and more alerts. The question is no longer what’s happening, but which incidents matter most.
“Visibility is still a challenge for many retailers, but even those who have it often struggle to know where to act,” said Andrew Lipof, Director of Loss Prevention & ORC Strategy at Nedap. “With AI Smart Mode in iD Cloud LP, we help teams focus on the incidents that matter most and act on them faster.”
By helping teams focus on fewer, more meaningful incidents, Nedap enables faster investigations, reduced investigation time, and more effective allocation of resources across stores.
AI Smart Mode automatically evaluates incoming events to filter out noise and surface incidents most likely linked to organized retail crime (ORC) and high financial impact. Rather than learning from a single store environment, the AI is trained across the broader retail ecosystem and is embedded throughout iD Cloud LP to support the detection of both internal and external theft. This enables loss prevention teams to move beyond reactive monitoring and make faster, more proactive decisions.
The update is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing iD Cloud LP workflows, requiring minimal configuration, and deliver immediate value. And by continuously learning from user feedback and incident outcomes, the system becomes more precise over time, further improving prioritization accuracy.
“Retailers are under increasing pressure to respond faster and more precisely to retail crime,” said Hilbert Dijkstra, Managing Director Retail at Nedap. “AI Smart Mode helps loss prevention teams focus their attention where it has the greatest impact. It’s another step in helping retailers move from reactive processes to smarter, more proactive operations.”
With AI Smart Mode, Nedap continues to advance its commitment to helping retailers stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated retail crime by enabling smarter prioritization and faster response across store operations.
